The Davidson Windmill was completed about 1905 and served the settlers in the Old Brule region for around twenty years. The builder was Jacob Tapola from Finland who changed his name to Davidson. The mill was an original creation using mostly local materials, including the grist stones. Modern transportation and methods put the mill out of business shortly after Jacob died. Eugene Davidson, grandson of the builder, entrusted Old-Brule Heritage Society with the mill in 2001. It is on the National Register of Historic Places, and serves as a portal into the Old-Brule region along Wisconsin Highway 13.
